“I was reminded on Thursday, as I shadowed a Disaster Action Team [that was responding to a house fire], of why I come to work each day and proud to call myself a life-time Red Crosser. I watched a woman, who by many people’s standards had nothing, lose everything. But through the efforts of this agency was allowed to mourn the loss of all of her belongings and her home, was given hope of a new beginning and the promise that we would be there. I have always been told I have broad shoulders and on Thursday I was glad that they were broad enough for Lisa to place her head on them and cry.”
