Buckeyes Spread Holiday Spirit by Sending 3,700 Cards to Troops

This December, United States service members will receive a little extra holiday cheer thanks to the Buckeye community. The Ohio State athletic department staff and student-athletes combined to send nearly 4,000 holiday cards to U.S. service members, their families and veterans through our Holiday Mail for Heroes program, an extension of our Service to Military Families program; helping military members and their families with emergency communications and more.

Along with staff members, student-athletes from 14 different teams participated in the campaign. The nearly 4,000 cards was the largest amount received from any one group in central Ohio. Women’s hockey, who created 725 cards, submitted the most of any team. Brutus Buckeye even made an appearance, delivering the cards to Red Crossers yesterday.

Cards for the Holiday Mail for Heroes program must be postmarked by today, Friday, Dec. 10. For more information visit www.redcross.org/holidaymail. Go bucks!
