Red Cross helping families find new places to live following devastating storms

Twenty-six year-old Amanda Knopp, of The Plains, wasn’t aware that she and her husband of less than a year could get financial assistance until she spoke with a Red Cross representative at The Plains United Methodist Church Tuesday. “I’m so thankful,” was all she could say as the volunteer explained that with proper verification from their new landlord, the Red Cross would provide Amanda and her husband with the deposit needed to move into an apartment.

Plagued with nightmares of the storm and the tree that fell in front of her as she tried to escape her mobile home to find safe shelter, the young couple will move into their new home on Friday with a sense of security they didn’t possess while living in the mobile home.
