Red Cross Relief Getting to Residents in Athens, Meigs and Perry Counties

Food and other supplies are getting to residents by way of a fixed Red Cross feeding site at The Plains United Methodist Church, where more than 2,000 meals have been served since opening, Red Cross emergency response vehicles and even with the help of 4-wheeler.

“Our goal is to make sure everyone who was touched by the severe weather has food, clothing, important medicines and medical equipment and other support they need,” explained Michael Carroll, CEO of American Red Cross of Greater Columbus.  “When roads are difficult for our vehicles to pass, such as in the Matheny Rd. area, we have appreciated the help of the sheriff department’s 4-wheelers.”

We estimate spending between $100,000 and $200,000 for this disaster operation. Tune in tonight @nbc4i will open the CALL 4 phone bank from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to accept credit card donations to assist the communities affected by these storms or make a donation at
