Today is the last day of my service term with AmeriCorps. This weekend I will be making my trek back home to North Carolina where I will have yet another first day of school in East Carolina University’s Nurse Practitioner program. I like to think of my service year as a kick-off to an entire life of serving. This year has shown me how a community is strengthened by its diversity and supported by the people and organizations that care for it. My year has taught me that helping one child is truly helping. I am bettered by the people I have met and the training I have been provided. Yet, I am stronger with the understanding that regardless of the people you are with or the training you have everything boils down to your attitude.
Thanks to Sarah Lovern, Community Disaster Education AmeriCorps member for this post. Good luck and we will miss you!
