Lifeguard Samantha Johnston with Students at Northwest Swim Club

On June 3rd the World Waterpark Association joined with more than 10 training and water safety organizations, including the American Red Cross, for the “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson.” The purpose behind the event is to raise awareness for the importance of teaching children to swim.

The American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program combines the best in swim instruction with a strong emphasis on drowning prevention and water safety. Courses are fun and interactive. More advanced-level students refine their skills, learn the basics of springboard diving and how to incorporate swimming into a fitness plan. American Red Cross community partners currently host American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim courses.
